The Pacific Islands Telecommunications Association (PITA) is delighted to announce that its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and conference will take place in Honiara, Solomon Islands, from 29 April to 2 May 2025. This year’s prominent event will be hosted by Our Telekom. NRH Labour Ward Receives Donations From Our Telekom To Mark International Womens Day 2024

OUR SOLOMON TELEKOM WOMEN along with other women in the Solomon Islands and worldwide celebrated International Women’s Day to commemorate the accomplishments and challenges faced by women globally. This year Our Solomon Telekom Women were pleased to acknowledge the National Referral Hospital Labour Ward that delivers important work and supports women and girls throughout our country. Our Solomon Telekom donated 80 new pillows, 100 pillow cases, 50 Bed sheets, and a number of umbrellas to the National Referral Hospital Labour Ward. The donation was made possible with the support from Our Telekom Staff Charity Funds raised from the annual Christmas Tree BBQ. STCL Head of HR & Support Services Mrs. Dinna Irofufuli was on site to hand over the donation and said: “the support and care for mothers at birthing facilities should be supported we hope this donation to your ward will assist in looking after our mothers”. Our Telekom is happy to contribute to the Hospital and we recognize the hardworking staff of the Labour Ward. Doctor Benjamin Koete and Nurse Manager Doris Duddley received the donations and acknowledged the efforts of Our Telekom staff and the timely donation. Doctor Koete said: “the Labour Ward hosts up to 500 mothers per month despite their challenges the Labour Ward still strives to offer the best care for expectant mothers”. Over the years Our Telekom is dedicated to supporting worthwhile causes in the health, education, and social welfare sector of the Solomon Islands. We hope this donation boosts the NRH Labour Ward and rallies more support from the Private sector for future contributions. Solomon Telekom and WGI Telecom Donates Ultrasound to Boost Women’s Health Care at National Referral Hospital

Solomon Telekom Company Limited, through its US supplier- WGI Telecom, generously donated a hand-held ultrasound device to the National Referral Hospital (NRH) on 1st March. The mobile ultrasound scanner, specially designed to support obstetric care, was gifted to further women’s health service delivery at the NRH.  “This timely and crucial donation will greatly aid our ward procedures and upcoming provincial outreaches,” said Honiara NRH consultant obstetrician Dr. Benjamin Koete, who received the equipment. “Having this additional ultrasound capability at hand will guide our diagnosis and management of female patients.”  NRH Chief Executive Officer Dr. George Malefoasi offered official thanks to the Solomon Telekom CEO Ms. Christina Lasaqa and US supplier Mr Winston Reid for the useful medical equipment. “We have sought to procure more ultrasounds for our busy obstetrics department. With this gift, we can now evaluate incorporating more portable units,” noted Dr. Malefoasi. Measuring just over one foot long, the handheld ultrasound connects with phones or laptops to visualize scans for diagnosis, procedure guidance and patient treatment.    Last year, female admissions to NRH obstetric and gynaecological wards totalled 9,854, with another 8,300 women seen through day clinics. “Women’s health utilization is the highest at NRH. We are grateful that Solomon Telekom has pledged continued support to this vital area of community health need,” said Dr. Malefoasi. Representing the WGI Telecom, Mr. Winston Reid shared they were delighted to directly enable advanced women's care through the ultrasound's donation. An online training is being coordinated between US obstetricians and the Solomon Islands medical team on ideal application of the mobile scanner.
